Meet Arthur R. Hawkins, a visionary leader with an inspiring journey dedicated to creating positive change in the lives of young individuals. With a history dating back to 1999, Arthur has a profound and successful background in establishing nonprofits and uplifting communities.
Arthur's commitment to youth development is evident in his diverse roles throughout his career. He has worn many hats, serving as teacher, principal, coach, advisor, and mentor to numerous young individuals. His passion for empowering the next generation led him to initiate his first nonprofit, "The Big Boys and Girls of Clarksville," in 1999 in Clarksville, Tennessee. This early endeavor set the stage for his impactful work in the field of youth development.
As his journey continued, Arthur relocated to McDonough, Georgia, where he founded "Men and Women of Action," a testament to his unwavering dedication to community betterment. His tireless efforts to support youth also led him to become a part of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), a national organization serving student athletes.
Recognizing the ongoing need for dedicated services within area high schools, Arthur R. Hawkins took a bold step in 2021 by creating "All the Way and Then Some." This nonprofit was born from his profound commitment to rebuilding and restoring the lives of fatherless youth, with a special emphasis on nurturing and empowering young men.
Arthur R. Hawkins currently serves as the founder for All the Way and Then Some (ATWATS), a 501c3 nonprofit corporation. His vision is that ATWATS will be impactful in developing good character and leadership skills in young men and women in this country. Coach Hawkins teaches, mentors, and disciples’ students and young adults in the Atlanta area, surrounding counties, and beyond. He teaches the five stages of character development with a focus on character leadership using the character pyramid developed by Coach John Wooden, in schools in Rockdale, Newton, and Greene counties on a monthly basis. The highlight of his week is teaching these character studies with young men and mentoring their athletic coaches.
Arthur is a native of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, where he lettered 11 times as a high school football player. He was inducted into the Roanoke Rapids High School football hall of fame in 2015. Coach Hawkins played football at North Carolina Central University where he lettered and played on two MEAC Championship teams. He completed his B. S. degree in psychology at Troy State University, received a master’s in health and human performance from Austin Peay State University, and educational leadership certification from Mercer University. He has worked as a coach, teacher, assistant high school, and middle school principal in Tennessee, Georgia, and Texas. Arthur also is a retired veteran from the United States Army, where he served as a drill sergeant, and airborne Blackhat, and first sergeant. He resides with his wife, Varie, (Dr. Hawkins) in McDonough, Georgia and have 3 daughters, 5 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
